Hello, Jeffrey Kirk here.

Did you know that the magic of turning potential leads into actual sales often happens through the power of a simple phone call? Since phone calls are so effective, it’s really important for businesses to use smart methods to get more calls.

In today’s digital world, some businesses have a tough time standing out online. However, while being on the internet is important, don’t forget about the good ol’ phone call. It’s still super important for connecting with customers.

Why should you care about phone calls for your business?

Well, good communication is key, and using the right tools, like phones and call tracking, can make a big difference. Even though apps like Skype and WhatsApp are cool, a regular phone call is still the top choice for businesses and customers to chat. And, yes, I mean chat in the old sense, using your voice!

Phone calls make customers feel safe and happy because they get to talk to a real person who can help them out. Obviously, the way people shop has changed a lot because more and more people are using smartphones and seeing mobile ads.

These days, most searches happen on smartphones, and more than half of all web traffic is from mobile devices.  Typically, someone using a smartphone will start by searching, and they will end up making a phone call after seeing ads or website content.

If you want to boost the number of calls your business gets, check out these seven tips to get more phone calls for your business…

1. Optimize Your Google Business Profile

The first thing to do is to ensure that your Google Business Profile is complete and up to date. This includes accurate business hours, contact information, and a compelling business description.

A well-optimized profile increases the chance of your business appearing in local searches. For any business, especially local ones, having a Google Business profile is important for your online presence.

When people search for local things, like “dentist near me”, the results page usually shows a map with three businesses listed. Being one of those three businesses can really help your business get noticed when people are looking for what you offer.

So, how do you get there? First, make sure you have a Google Business Profile and that it’s well-optimized. If you haven’t claimed your business listing yet, do that first.

After that, add all the important info like your business category, where you serve customers, your hours, and, of course, your phone number. This makes it easier for people to find and choose your business. I have several videos explaining how to do each of these things. Here’s the link to the playlist for easy access.

2. Implement Click-to-Call Buttons on Your Website

Make it easy for potential customers to contact you by incorporating clickable phone numbers on your site. Mobile users appreciate the convenience of one-click calling. That means a phone number button or link improves the user experience and increases the likelihood that you get a call.

Aside from having the clickable link, also make sure your phone number is visible on every page of your site, typically in a fixed position at the top right of the screen, and not just hidden deep within layers of navigation on a distant “Contact Us” page.

Also, make sure the font size is large enough for quick and easy reading. You want everyone to know how to reach you.

3. Leverage Local SEO Strategies

Invest time and resources in local search engine optimization to improve your business’s visibility in local searches. Utilizing SEO strategies can enhance a website’s position in the search results, making it more likely that potential customers will discover your business phone number.

This includes optimizing your website content with local keywords, obtaining local backlinks, and ensuring consistent Name, Address, and Phone number information across online directories. Additionally, local SEO can be particularly beneficial for businesses that depend on phone calls from nearby customers.

By improving the website’s ranking for location-related searches, your business can enhance the visibility of your phone number in search results.

4. Run Targeted Local Ad Campaigns

Take advantage of online advertising platforms, such as Google Ads, Facebook Ads, and other social media, to run targeted campaigns. Geo-targeted ads can effectively reach your local audience, prompting them to pick up the phone and inquire about your products or services.

If your business has a tight budget, start small by investing a little money and using basic optimization methods. And look for a platform that can get you results on a low budget.

5. Create Compelling Content

Regularly publish relevant and engaging content on your website, blog, and social media channels. This content should address local interests and concerns, positioning your business as a valuable resource in the community.

Your content should include a compelling element that prompts people to call you right away. Simply displaying your phone number is often not enough.

So look beyond the basics and put together a powerful call-to-action. Effective CTAs may include terms or statements such as “Free coupons here,” “Get Entry,” “Click to Call,” “Click to Chat,” or “Schedule now…” – these small statements encourage action.

Informative and shareable content can generate interest and prompt potential customers to call for more info.

6. Utilize Local Directories

Make sure your business is listed in relevant local directories, both online and offline. This increases your visibility and makes it easier for potential new clients to find your contact info when searching for local services.

Promoting your business through local listings can significantly boost visibility. Some potential customers may see your brand as a perfect match for their needs. If your business doesn’t appear in accurate searches, you might miss out on valuable leads. The goal is to simplify the process for consumers to discover your business.

Local directories can help you accomplish this. You just have to provide all the details the directory wants, including comprehensive company information, the products and services you offer, and, most importantly, your contact details.

7. Implement Call Tracking

Utilize call-tracking software to analyze the effectiveness of your marketing efforts. By understanding which channels generate the most calls, you can fine-tune your strategies for maximum impact.

This is a more advanced topic and maybe it’s too much for your business right now, but integrating a call-tracking system enables businesses to pinpoint the most successful marketing channels for generating phone calls.

These systems keep track of each phone call to your business, allowing you to identify which marketing strategies bring in the most leads. By tracking calls from specific web pages, advertising campaigns, and marketing channels, you can determine the most effective sources.

This information can also provide valuable insights into call quality, including call duration, conversion rates, and customer satisfaction. Using call tracking can help you make better informed decisions about your marketing strategies, ultimately improving the return on investment for your budget.

And here’s a bonus tip! Train your staff for effective phone handling.

Make sure your team knows how to handle phone calls with professionalism and efficiency. A positive phone interaction can leave a lasting impression, bringing in repeat business and positive word-of-mouth referrals.

Quality customer service is really necessary for every business, regardless of your profession or industry. And, by establishing good customer service, you create more trust between you and your clients, encouraging ongoing business relationships.

This trust not only aids in retaining customers but also helps attract new ones through positive word-of-mouth. Consistently delivering excellent customer service, while openly communicating about it, contributes to building your reputation as a trustworthy company that prioritizes the needs of its customers.
